Indian NGO wins Alcan sustainability award |

Allahabad-based NGO Utthan Centre for Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation has won the Alcan Prize for Sustainability 2007.
Corey Copeland, senior vice-president of communication and external relations, Rio Tinto Alcan, made the announcement at a simple ceremony here Wednesday.
The $1 million award is given on an annual basis to a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that has demonstrated a comprehensive approach to advancing economic, environmental or social sustainability.
